Sprint Helping the Environment

I must admit that I really do prefer the Droid phone. I just love it! I think the smart phones are the wave of the future with so many more surprises in store. Yet I think the environment is very important and with all these cell phones there are so many environmental issues.

Along the same lines as the love for the Droid phone I also have favorite cell phone carriers. T-Mobile I feel is fantastic. But this article is not about who you should sign up with. I thought it was important to talk about  Sprint in that they have one of the better “Buyback” programs where they give credit to you for your recycled phone. The phone can be from any carrier and anyone can get a Sprint credit.

Depending on the model of phone, this will determine the amount of money you shall receive once you do turn in the phone. There are over one thousand participating stores across the nations that are participating in this program. This program also applies to people that do not have Sprint. Although if you get a credit it is unclear how exactly that would work.

This all began when a research study was done and researchers found that little over ninety percent of people with old phones would turn in their old ones, but for a little compensation. Whether it is a tax deduction or a credit the American people felt for the cost of the phone they needed a little something back. This was one way Sprint felt that they could help and please their customers. It is also being environmentally responsible.

The concept of donating your old cell phone is not a new one. Some organizations have recycled their old cell phones by donating to a cause such as domestic violence victims. Those are also very noble ways to recycle your old cell phone. Whatever you may decide there are much better options out there than just throwing your phone in the trash.
